4 Week Course France v The New World (Harpenden)
Actually, this is a three-week course with an option come to a special tasting of Rhone Wines at a discounted price*. On this fascinating course we will taste wines from the classic wine regions of France and compare them against the best of the New World. Join us each evening as we taste pairs of wines made from the same grape variety, but from different countries. For example, do you think you can tell the difference between Malbec from the Cahors in France and one from Mendoza in Argentina? We will compare Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and more from the best locations and producers France, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and California. We will also take the opportunity to try traditional grape varieties currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity such as Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Franc.
• Thurs 20 February – Burgundy and Champagne versus Australia and New Zealand including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
• Thurs 27 February - Bordeaux and The Loire versus Western Australia and South Africa including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc
• Thurs 5 March – South-west France and Alsace versus Australia, Chile and Argentina including Malbec, Gewurztraminer and Muscat
* Plus, as an added bonus, anyone signing-up to all three weeks of the course has an option to attend our special tasting of Rhone Wines in St Albans on Tuesday 3rd March for just £25 (saving almost 20% on the advertised price). The evening, led by Linda Field, a wine educator who lives and works in the Southern Rhone, provides a great chance to learn about recent developments and sample some great Rhone wines, some of which are rarely found in the UK.
All in all, a fantastic chance to taste around 30 wines and discover those you like best. This course requires no previous wine tasting experience but is also a great opportunity to build upon the four-week 'World of Wine' Course.
There is no additional evening charge on this course. Great value - the cost of the course works out at less than £27 per evening.
All tastings include at least seven wines, sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, notes and other materials, a tutored tasting and use of professional ISO tasting glasses. Please also refer to our 'Terms & Conditions' when booking - if you have to miss a week of the course, there is no guarantee that you will be able to repeat that session on a future course, unless you are able to provide at least seven days notice of cancellation.
