World of Wine Bordeaux and the Rhone (Hertford)
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Wine tasting on Bordeaux and Rhone.
Bordeaux - Claret, traditional-British for Bordeaux, has been a firm favourite for centuries. The classic reds from villages such as Margaux and St. Emilion are those that are layered, complex and destined to develop over many years. But did you know that over half of Bordeaux wine is produced for everyday drinking at everyday prices? We will explore why this is and focus on the key grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc to understand what makes good Bordeaux great.
Rhone - In the South of France lies the Rhone Valley, where we find the blockbuster Syrah (Shiraz) and its many styles. In addition we find the spicy Grenache, and these two grapes together exist because of the hot climate down here, making more intense and full-bodied wines. We’ll explore classics such as Cotes-du-Rhone and Chateauneuf-du-Pape and compare them to their counterparts in Northern Rhone.
Book now for a special summer discount price of £20 (usually £25).
All tastings include at least six wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, tutored tasting and use of professional tasting glasses.
