World of Wine South Africa and USA (Harpenden)
SORRY - SOLD OUT. The next South Africa and USA tasting is on Tuesday 11th June. Join us for a Wonderful World of Wine tasting on South Africa and North America.
California dominates the USA with approximately 90% of its wine production. However, it is responsible for some of the world’s finest Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and especially Cabernet Sauvignon. We will taste wines from the Central Coast and elsewhere, as we experience our very own bit of California Dreamin’.
For almost a century South Africa was dominated by one cooperative, KWV, producing large volumes of very average wine. The end of Apartheid in 1990, and the eventual privatisation of the wine industry, has allowed diversity to flourish and South African wines are now becoming very interesting. Tonight we will try a Bordeaux-style blend, some Chenin Blanc and a fine example of South Africa’s ‘own’ grape Pinotage.
This wine tasting evening also makes a great gift idea for only £25.
All tastings include at least six wines, sourced locally so you can find them if you like them, tasting notes, a tutored presentation and use of professional ISO tasting glasses.
