Bordeaux and Bordeaux Blends (Hitchin)
Bordeaux has been seen as the capital of the wine world for hundreds of years and still makes many of the world's best and most expensive wines. But with over 10,000 wine producing estates it also produces a great range of wine styles and prices - over 50% of Bordeaux wines are designed for everyday drinking at everyday prices.
The term 'Bordeaux Blend' refers to wines made elsewhere, but using some, or all, of the six permitted Bordeaux grape varieties, especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Regions with a top class reputation for this style include Western Australia, California and Stellenbosch, in South Africa. Join us to taste great examples from Bordeaux and compare them with some of their New World competitors.
We will also taste a white and a sweet wine but, if you are a fan of big and bold red wine, this tasting is not to be missed.
This wine tasting evening also makes a great Christmas Gift Voucher idea for only £30.
All tastings include at least seven wines, sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, tasting notes, tutored tasting and use of professional tasting glasses.
