Discover the Wines of South Africa and England (Hertford)
South Africa is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing success stories on the UK wine scene - so much so, that we now import the same volume of wine from SA as we do from France! It has experienced a huge improvement in quality in the last ten years, as well as an explosion of new winemakers, wineries, and range of wine styles.
Closer to home, there are now more than 400 working vineyards in England & Wales producing around 5m bottles of wine each year. Our best product is sparkliong wine which, in many cases, rivals that which is made in Champagne. However, there are other styles, some made from grape varieties that have been adapted to suit English conditions.
On this one-evening tasting, we will try at least seven different wines including grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc along with classic South Africa varieties such as Pinotage and Chenin Blanc. And, fresh from my recent wine tour of South Africa, I will be able to provide an update on current developments share one or two special wines that survived the journey home.
This tasting also makes a great Gift for only £25.
All tastings feature wines sourced locally, so you can find them easily if you like them, tasting notes, a tutored tasting and use of professional ISO tasting glasses.
