4 Week 'New World' of Wine Course (St Albans)
Did you know that two-thirds of the wine we buy in the UK comes from the New World? The reasons for this include better marketing, straightforward labelling and more approachable, riper, flavours than found in many wines from the traditional wine producing nations. And, with improved winemaking techniques, greater knowledge and experience, and freedom to experiment, the quality of the wines is better than ever.
Find out more on this exciting four-week course, when we discover the delights of the New World countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, USA and England! We will include both mainstream, international, grape varieties and also explore some of the lesser known wines that are becoming firmly associated with the New World. The course schedule and dates are:
• Thursday 1 October - Australia and New Zealand
• Thursday 8 October - Chile and Argentina
• Thursday 15 October - South Africa and Germany
• Thursday 22 October - England and the USA
All in all, a fantastic chance to taste more than 25 wines and discover those you like best. This course requires no previous wine tasting experience as we will also learn how to taste wine like a professional, find out how wine is made and discover how climate, and other factors, influence wine styles. There is no additional evening charge on this course. Great value - the cost of the course works out at less than £25 per evening, which represents a saving of £10 (compared to paying for each evening separately).
This course also makes a great Gift Voucher idea for just £99. And, if you are enjoying the course so much that you don't want it to end, there is an option to keep going by signing-up to our four-week 'Old World' course for just £100. The course starts on Thursday 5 November, when the focus shifts to the the traditional European wine-producing countries including France, Spain and Italy.
All tasting evenings include at least seven wines, sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, notes and other materials, a tutored tasting and use of professional ISO tasting glasses. Please also refer to our 'Terms & Conditions' when booking - if you have to miss a week of the course, if you are able to provide at least seven days notice of cancellation then you will be able to repeat that session on a future occasion.
